Alejandro Domínguez meets with Venezuela's Delcy Rodríguez to discuss football development

Alejandro Domínguez, the Paraguayan president of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), met with Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez in Caracas. The meeting, described as strategic, focused on enhancing collaboration for the development of Venezuelan football.

Domínguez expressed his honor at being received by Rodríguez, emphasizing the commitment to strengthening ties between CONMEBOL and Venezuelan football authorities. He stated that joint efforts are underway to foster growth within the sport in the country. Jorge Giménez, President of the Venezuelan Football Federation, also attended the strategic meeting.

The discussions between Domínguez and Rodríguez took place against the backdrop of a significant announcement regarding a major oil deal between Venezuela and the United States. This multi-billion dollar agreement, involving the exchange of 650 million barrels of oil, was recently announced by Rodríguez and former U.S. President Donald Trump, adding a layer of broader geopolitical and economic context to the football-focused discussions.
