Alert at Olimpia: ‘Vitamina’ Sánchez could lose Eduardo Delmás to the Odesur Games

Olimpia could lose one of its most influential young players when Eduardo Delmás joins Paraguay’s under-20 squad for the South American Games in Argentina. Winger Pedro Zarza, another academy product who has already appeared for the first team, is also under consideration.

Delmás, a 19-year-old attacking midfielder, has become a key source of creativity in coach Pablo “Vitamina” Sánchez’s team. ABC Cardinal journalist Ariel Insfrán reported that the left-footed player has a strong chance of making Paraguay’s final squad.

If selected, Delmás could leave Olimpia from Sept. 12 to 26, although the exact period would depend on how far Paraguay advances in the tournament. The football competition will run from Sept. 16 to 25, within the broader South American Games program scheduled for Sept. 12 to 26.

The departures would force Sánchez’s staff to look for alternatives and restructure the attack during a demanding month. Paraguay’s youth-team operation begins on Sept. 12 with the formal presentation of Team Paraguay at the Paraguayan Olympic Committee. The possibility of losing two of its leading prospects also highlights the strength of Olimpia’s youth development system.
