An alert was raised in Giurgiu County, Romania, following a significant collision between a freight train and a tanker truck, both carrying diesel fuel. The incident, which occurred on Friday, May 22, resulted in substantial fuel leaks, creating a hazardous situation on the railway tracks and adjacent fields. Firefighters from the Giurgiu Detachment, along with police, environmental representatives, and railway officials, were quickly dispatched to the scene. The impact damaged the locomotive and the tanker, leading to the spillage. Fortunately, the train's wagons remained unaffected, and the drivers of both vehicles were medically assessed on-site. Firefighters are currently working to contain the spill and implement fire prevention measures until the diesel can be safely transferred to another tanker.
