Algeria Advances Trans-Saharan Road Project in Chad

Algeria is reinforcing its commitment to African infrastructure development with a recent technical mission to Chad. A team from the Société Nationale des Travaux Publics (SNTP) deployed to the country from May 20-23 to accelerate preparations for the crucial Ngouri-Bol road project.

This marks the third field mission by Algerian teams involved in the Trans-Saharan Highway initiative. The current deployment focuses on the technical and logistical groundwork required for two strategic sections of the road, which aims to connect Ngouri to Bol in southwestern Chad. The SNTP's topography unit is already on-site, underscoring the project's momentum.

The mission directly follows instructions from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who has prioritized strengthening cooperation with Chad, particularly in public works and infrastructure. This hands-on approach signifies Algeria's dedication to moving beyond formal agreements and achieving concrete results in its vision for continental integration.

The Trans-Saharan Highway is a flagship project intended to foster economic ties and facilitate trade across North and West Africa. Algeria's active involvement in Chad demonstrates its commitment to realizing this ambitious infrastructure goal and enhancing regional connectivity.
