Ali Khamenei to be Buried in Imam Reza Mausoleum; Dates Announced

Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, will be buried in the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad in July, according to Al Jazeera, citing Iranian state media. This follows a series of funeral ceremonies planned both in Tehran and Mashhad.

The funeral process is set to begin with a farewell ceremony in Tehran on July 13 and 14. Subsequently, burial ceremonies will take place on July 15 and 16. A final funeral ceremony is scheduled for July 18, after which Khamenei will be laid to rest in the mausoleum of Imam Reza.

Khamenei, who had been the country's highest spiritual leader since 1989, reportedly died at the age of 86. Iranian state media reported his death occurred on February 28 in Tehran, following what they described as massive airstrikes by Israel and the United States that destroyed his complex in the capital. The report also notes Khamenei's consistent stance against the United States and Israel, often referring to the U.S. as the "Great Satan."
