All flights grounded at Subang Airport following helicopter fire

Subang Airport, officially known as Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, has suspended all flight operations until further notice following a fire incident involving a helicopter. The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia confirmed the closure of the runway.

The incident occurred on August 15 around 12:28 PM. A Kamov Ka-32S helicopter, with registration number UR-CIT, was undergoing routine maintenance, specifically an engine ground run, when the fire broke out. The emergency prompted the immediate closure of the runway, leading to the halt of all air traffic.

Authorities are urging passengers affected by the flight disruptions to contact their respective airlines for the latest information regarding flight status and rebooking options. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

An investigation into the incident will be conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), which operates under the Ministry of Transport.
