All set for 'magical' Rebel Salute debut in Miramar

The highly anticipated Rebel Salute festival, a cornerstone of Jamaican music and culture, is finally set to make its South Florida debut in Miramar. After a postponement last year attributed to unstable weather conditions, the event is now slated for April 19 at the Miramar Regional Park, with forecasts promising clear skies and a celebratory atmosphere.

Founded by the iconic Tony Rebel, the festival has a rich history in Jamaica, dating back to its inception on January 15, 1994. Over the years, it has moved venues within Jamaica, becoming a significant platform for reggae and dancehall artists. This expansion into South Florida marks a new chapter, aiming to connect with the large Jamaican diaspora residing in cities like Miramar, whose mayor, Wayne Messam, is of Jamaican heritage.
