Allegation of Roy Suryo, Police Forced to Announce P21 for Jokowi's Diploma Case

Roy Suryo, a suspect in the case involving allegations of a fake diploma belonging to Indonesian President Joko Widodo, claims that the police were compelled to announce the completion of the investigation, known as P21. Suryo suggested that the announcement was made "under duress," implying that the police were forced into making the declaration.

Has there already been a P-21? That's why. Has it been informed yet? If it has been informed, from that information, even the complete file has been since last year... So, all this time we have heard P21 is announced under duress. I say under duress.

Speaking on CNN Indonesia TV, Suryo questioned the validity of the P21 status, noting that information about it emerged during a press conference held by the Director of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Imam Imanuddin, for a different matter. Suryo pointed out that Iman's response regarding the case was brief and did not explicitly mention P21 or the completion of the files. Instead, Iman stated that they were "coordinating" and that the case "no longer needed further action because it was already fulfilled."

Suryo further raised doubts about the official process, stating that a P21 declaration typically involves a formal letter exchanged between the police investigators and the public prosecutor. He questioned whether such a letter existed, noting that if it did, the police would likely have announced its issuance date and the date for the second stage of the handover. Suryo highlighted that eight days after Iman's announcement, there was still no plan for the second stage handover, despite the supposed existence of the letter.

If the police already have this letter from the prosecutor's office, they would definitely have announced the date of its issuance. Then when was the second stage handover? Until now, when Mr. Director announced on Tuesday, June 2, this is already H+8, there is no plan for the second stage, even though this letter actually exists within a maximum of how many days.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya had announced that the case files for both Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma, also known as Dokter Tifa, in the alleged fake diploma case had been declared complete or P21 by the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office. Director of General Criminal Investigation Kombes Iman Imanuddin stated that the prosecutor's office found no further deficiencies in the files submitted. He indicated that the second stage of the process, involving the handover of suspects and evidence to the prosecutor, would follow soon, after which the prosecutor would prepare charges for a trial.
