Indonesian authorities are collaborating with their counterparts in Brunei to investigate a fatal assault that occurred in Jakarta's Blok M area, involving two foreign nationals from Brunei. The case is being managed by the Jakarta Metro Police.

The incident took place in the early hours of May 6, 2026, in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. The victim sustained severe head injuries and, after initial treatment at Pertamina Central Hospital, was declared dead on May 16, 2026.

Police apprehended MIA on May 25, 2026, in South Kebayoran Lama. The arrest followed a crime scene investigation, witness interviews, and analysis of CCTV footage. Evidence collected includes the suspect's clothing and shoes worn during the incident, along with CCTV recordings. MIA faces charges under Article 466 paragraph 3 and/or Article 468 paragraph 2 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, related to assault resulting in death.
