Alleged Burglar Killed After Entering Home in Puente Piedra

A suspected burglar is dead after allegedly entering a home in Puente Piedra, Peru, with the apparent intention of committing a robbery. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning in the Casa Huerta settlement, Zapallal area.

According to initial reports, the individual entered the property carrying a bladed weapon. A family member inside the home noticed the intruder and, in response, reportedly used a firearm to shoot the suspect. The man fell inside the residence and died from the impact. The identity of the deceased has not yet been officially confirmed.

National Police agents arrived at the scene and took the family member who fired the shot to the Zapallal police station. The individual is currently being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation. Detectives from the Puente Piedra Criminal Investigation Department (Depincri) are tasked with reconstructing the events, including how the intruder gained entry, the nature of the weapon he carried, and the precise circumstances of the shooting.

The investigation will also aim to establish whether the deceased had any prior criminal record. The Public Ministry will participate to determine responsibilities and ascertain if the shooting occurred in a context of legitimate self-defense or under different conditions. Authorities are continuing to gather testimonies and evidence from the location.
