Prosecutor investigates 'La Bella Luz' owner for alleged failure to report sexual misconduct

Prosecutors in Lima Norte have launched a preliminary investigation into Óscar Custodio, the owner of the popular musical group 'La Bella Luz.' Custodio faces allegations of real concealment and failure to report, stemming from a complaint filed by a 26-year-old singer within the orchestra. The singer claims she was subjected to inappropriate touching by the group's 50-year-old director, César Sánchez. According to the investigation, the singer initially informed Custodio about the incident via phone. She later visited his home in Comas with her partner to reiterate her complaint, stating that Sánchez had allegedly engaged in similar sexual misconduct before. However, the public ministry's records indicate Custodio responded that he would assess the situation but took no immediate action against Sánchez. He reportedly told the singer they could not dismiss Sánchez and questioned how she obtained video evidence of the alleged touching. The deputy provincial prosecutor, Martha Leydi Diana Lino Matta, has ordered several investigative measures. These include taking statements from the singer, Custodio, the orchestra's legal representative, a public prosecutor from the Judiciary, and any relevant witnesses. The prosecution also seeks to examine the singer's mobile phone for evidence related to the complaint and the mentioned audiovisual recordings. The investigation aims to determine if Custodio was aware of the alleged sexual misconduct and if he subsequently failed to report it to authorities or acted in a way that constitutes the crimes under investigation. The case is in its preliminary stage, and further proceedings will clarify whether sufficient evidence exists to establish criminal responsibility.
