Alleged militant commander killed in Bannu; attempt to destroy link bridge foiled

An alleged militant commander and two civilians were killed in separate incidents in Pakistan's Bannu district, while militants also attempted to destroy a key link bridge, local sources reported Saturday. The Police Peace Committee stated that Shahid, son of Mir Khatam, was killed near Kangar Bridge during an operation Friday night. Sources identified him as a close associate of militant commander Akhtar Muhammad and alleged he was involved in several terrorist activities.

In another incident, two bodies were found on Domel Link Road. The victims were identified as Ghazi Marjan and Parvez, residents of Lakki Marwat district. Reports suggest militants abducted and killed them. Police have launched an investigation.

Militants also tried to destroy the Teri Ram Bridge on Miryan Road using explosives. The blast partially damaged the bridge and a nearby mosque, but no casualties were reported. Authorities are investigating these incidents, and security has been increased across Bannu. The district has seen repeated security incidents recently, with both civilians and security forces targeted amid rising militant violence.
