Alternate Kang Chae-yeon takes solo lead at KLPGA Jeju Samdasoo Masters

Kang Chae-yeon is on the cusp of her first career victory on the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, holding a solo lead after the third round of the Jeju Samdasoo Masters. The 23-year-old golfer posted a 3-under-par 69 in Saturday's round, bringing her total score to 12-under-par 204.

Kang, who lost her full tour card last year and has been competing on the Dream Tour this season, secured her spot in the Jeju Samdasoo Masters as an alternate. She has capitalized on the opportunity, surprising many with her strong performance and consistent play. Her round on Saturday included six birdies and three bogeys, demonstrating a strong offensive game despite a few minor setbacks.

Chasing Kang are Jang Eun-su and Seo Eo-jin, who are tied for second place at 11-under-par 205, just one stroke behind the leader. Both Jang and Seo are also seeking their maiden KLPGA Tour titles, setting up a compelling final round.

Other notable players include Kim Min-ju and Shin Da-in, who are tied for fourth place at 8-under-par 208. Park Min-ji, a seasoned golfer aiming for her 21st career win, dropped to a tie for sixth place at 7-under-par 209 after a round of 1-over-par. Seo Gyo-rim, who has already secured two wins this season, is tied for 12th place at 6-under-par 210. Meanwhile, Kim Min-sol, who leads in the season's points, prize money, and rookie of the year standings, struggled and fell to a tie for 62nd place at 2-over-par 218.
