Ambon Government Equips SMEs with Financial Preparedness for Critical Illness Risks

The city government of Ambon, Indonesia, is equipping its small and medium-sized businesses with crucial financial knowledge to navigate the risks of critical illnesses. A "Health and Financial Talk" event, held at the Ambon City Hall, brought together UMKM owners, professionals, and community leaders.

Mayor Bodewin M. Wattimena highlighted the profound impact of health on families, work, and businesses. He stressed the importance of prevention, regular check-ups, and early detection to manage health issues before they escalate. This initiative is part of Ambon's "Health and Business Resilience Program 2026."

The event, a partnership between Manulife Indonesia and Siloam Hospital Ambon, focused on the theme "When Critical Illness Strikes: Are Your Family and Business Financially Ready?" Participants received comprehensive education on heart disease and cancer, including risk factors, symptoms, and treatment. The sessions also covered how critical illnesses affect earning capacity and the necessity of financial planning for business survival.

Ambon's government, alongside Manulife Indonesia and Siloam Hospital, aims for this program to serve as an ongoing platform for health and financial education tailored to the needs of the Ambon and Maluku regions. Experts in cardiology, oncology, and financial planning from Manulife Indonesia and Siloam Hospital served as speakers.
