Ambulance carrying patient crashes with car in Istanbul; injured

An ambulance transporting a patient crashed with a car in Istanbul's Kartaltepe neighborhood early Tuesday morning. The collision occurred around 3 a.m. when a 112 Emergency Health ambulance, with license plate 34 BH 5532, was struck by a car exiting a side street, identified by plate 34 KAU 502.

The impact sent the ambulance skidding onto the sidewalk. Witnesses immediately alerted emergency services, including fire, police, and medical teams. Paramedics arrived at the scene and provided initial treatment to their injured colleagues before transporting them to a nearby hospital. The patient who was in the ambulance during the crash was transferred to another ambulance and taken to the hospital.

Numerous healthcare professionals gathered at the scene upon hearing about the accident involving their colleagues. Police secured the area to prevent further incidents. Both the damaged ambulance and the car were later removed by tow trucks. A local resident, Murat Şahin, described the event, stating, "The ambulance picked up the patient from the head of the street. It was trying to reach the main road quickly. At that moment, it collided with a vehicle coming out of the side street. As a result of the impact, the health workers fell onto the road. I had to provide the first intervention. I hope our health workers are okay. He had problems with his back and leg. We put him on a stretcher and sent him off."
