Ambulance in Taiwan Nearly Crashes into Home After Collision

A collision between a civilian ambulance and an SUV in Xihu Township, Changhua County, Taiwan, resulted in a near-disaster, with the ambulance veering dangerously close to a residential home. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the ambulance, reportedly with its warning lights flashing, was struck by a white SUV at the intersection of Xihuan Road and Erxi Road.

The impact sent the ambulance forward, almost into a house by the roadside, creating a tense scene. The white SUV came to a halt in the middle of the intersection following the collision. Fortunately, the ambulance was not transporting any patients at the time.

Two individuals sustained injuries: a 38-year-old woman, the co-driver of the ambulance, reported neck pain, while the 59-year-old male driver of the SUV complained of leg pain. Both were conscious and received immediate medical attention before being transported to the Ministry of Health and Welfare Changhua Hospital. Their conditions are not considered life-threatening.

Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the crash. Authorities have issued a reminder that while emergency vehicles with activated sirens and lights have the right of way, drivers must remain vigilant at intersections. They also urged all drivers to be aware of their surroundings and to yield to special vehicles responding to emergencies to ensure public safety.
