Amerat–Bausher mountain road to be closed for two days

The Amerat–Bausher Mountain Road, a key route in Muscat, will experience a temporary closure to facilitate essential maintenance. Muscat Municipality, in collaboration with the Royal Oman Police (ROP), announced the complete shutdown of the road for traffic heading from the Wilayat of Amerat to the Wilayat of Bausher.

The closure is scheduled to begin on the evening of Thursday, July 23, and will extend until the evening of Saturday, July 25. The primary reason for this disruption is to carry out crucial maintenance work, specifically the removal of loose and fallen rocks from the roadside protective barriers. This measure aims to significantly enhance the safety of the route for all users.

I use the Amerat–Bausher road every day to commute to work. While the closure may add a few extra minutes to my journey, removing loose rocks is essential to prevent accidents.

During the closure period, motorists are strongly advised to utilize alternative roads and adhere to the directional signs that will be installed throughout the area. The municipality urges road users to plan their journeys in advance and cooperate with traffic authorities to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.

Many regular commuters who frequently use the Amerat–Bausher road expressed support for the maintenance initiative. Sadiq, a resident of Al Amerat, stated, "While the closure may add a few extra minutes to my journey, removing loose rocks is essential to prevent accidents." Another commuter appreciated the proactive approach, noting, "It's better to have a planned closure for maintenance than risk a serious incident caused by falling rocks."
