AMMAN Completes Copper Smelter in West Sumbawa, Boosting National Downstreaming

PT AMMAN Mineral Internasional Tbk. (AMMAN) has announced the completion of its copper smelter facility in West Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. This milestone marks a significant step in the company's commitment to supporting Indonesia's national downstreaming agenda.

President Director of AMMAN, Arief Sidarto, stated that the project is a collaboration with various parties to build one of the world's most advanced integrated copper smelter and precious metal refining complexes. "The operation of this smelter confirms our commitment to supporting the national downstreaming agenda," he said in a written statement on Friday, July 24, 2026.

The project's completion was formalized with the signing of the Completion and Project Acceptance Certificate (PAC) between AMMAN and China Nonferrous Metal Industry's Foreign Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. (NFC) in Beijing on July 18, 2026. This signifies the successful completion of all construction work and punch list items related to commissioning, as stipulated in the contract. Although the smelter has been operational for over a year, this achievement confirms it has met all performance guarantee tests.

Designated as a National Strategic Project (PSN), the facility is engineered to process up to 900,000 metric tons of concentrate per year, sourced initially from the Batu Hijau mine and later from the Elang mine. The complex will yield high-quality copper cathodes, gold, silver, sulfuric acid, and selenium. These mineral products are crucial for meeting the demand in renewable energy sectors, including electric vehicles and digital technologies, contributing to the world's increasing need for critical minerals.
