Anambra to enforce cashless tax payments, penalize cash transactions

Anambra State is set to enforce cashless tax payments, with the government announcing severe penalties for any continued cash transactions. The decision was made during the first State Executive Council meeting following Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s second-term inauguration and the swearing-in of new cabinet members.

The meeting, held in Awka, also focused on establishing team cohesion within the executive council. Objectives were set for an upcoming retreat designed to ensure council members function as a unified team, with clear understanding of their individual and collective responsibilities. The retreat is scheduled to take place within the week.

The Council set out two specific objectives for the second term’s ANSEC Retreat, which will establish team cohesion so that the state executive council will function as a team rather than merely as individuals, and to align all members with their responsibilities so that they know exactly what is expected of them individually and collectively.

In addition to policy decisions, Governor Soludo was recognized with awards from the West African College of Nurses and the African University of Science and Technology. The College of Nurses honored him for employing over 1,350 nurses, the highest number in Nigeria, and for ensuring nurses receive the current salary scale. The African University recognized his efforts in promoting digital skills, with over 260,000 citizens acquiring them, and for designating the former Government House as a tech hub.
