ANDE plans interactive restoration of historic Museum of Electricity

Paraguay's National Electricity Administration (ANDE) is embarking on a significant project to restore its emblematic Museum of Electricity, housed in the historic former power plant in Asunción. The initiative seeks to transform the site into a modern interactive and scientific center, aiming to attract both students and the general public.

ANDE President Ing. Félix Sosa recently led a delegation of specialists, including architects Enio Varela and Salim Girala, and museologist Luis Lataza, to assess the building. These professionals, known for their work on other cultural institutions, conducted a detailed visual inspection of the industrial heritage site. Their evaluation will form the basis for the preliminary diagnosis needed for the architectural and museographic design of the space.

The modernization plan envisions the museum as an open space that blends historical narrative with scientific outreach. Authorities intend to incorporate educational modules and live experiments demonstrating electrical phenomena and electromagnetic induction. This approach aims to make the museum a dynamic hub for learning and discovery.

ANDE seeks to revalue this strategic location, turning it into a landmark for cultural tourism. The project is currently in the preliminary design phase for civil works, with a tender process to follow. The restoration is expected to highlight the building's significance as a testament to Paraguay's industrial modernization and its history in electrical energy.
