Andrés Andrade reaches Champions League league stage after historic comeback

LASK Linz achieved an epic night for Austrian and Central American football, overturning a 3-0 first-leg deficit against Celtic to win 5-1 in the second leg and secure a 5-4 aggregate victory. This dramatic comeback earned them a place in the UEFA Champions League league stage.

Panamanian defender Andrés Andrade was a fundamental piece in LASK's defense and offensive buildup throughout the match. His participation marks him as the third Panamanian player to compete in the new UEFA Champions League format, joining compatriots Michael Amir Murillo and César Blackman.

The match in Linz was filled with dramatic turns. Celtic took an early lead through Callum McGregor, with the ball slightly deflecting off Andrade. However, LASK responded before halftime with a goal from Moses Usor. After the break, Usor assisted Robert Ljubičić for the equalizer, and Samuel Adeniran scored a spectacular long-range goal to level the aggregate score.

In stoppage time, Florian Flecker headed in to force extra time. In the second half of extra time, Adeniran scored his second goal after a defensive error by Celtic, sealing the historic 5-1 victory. Adeniran had an opportunity to complete a hat-trick from the penalty spot, but his shot was saved.
