Android 17's First Update Arrives for Pixel, Fixing 5 Major Issues Including Boot Loops and App Crashes

Google has rolled out the July Pixel update, marking the first post-release patch for Android 17. This update primarily targets system stability, addressing several critical issues reported by users. It is available via OTA (Over-The-Air) for all supported devices, ranging from the Pixel 6 series to the latest Pixel 10 series, including the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold.

According to Google's official changelog, the update resolves five known problems. Most significantly, it fixes a boot loop issue that prevented some devices from loading the Android system correctly. This should reduce the risk of devices failing to start up properly. Additionally, the update addresses instances where applications would unexpectedly crash or fail to launch, enhancing overall system reliability.

Further improvements include the correction of abnormal widget color displays and a fix for the "Shape Effect" wallpaper feature, which previously misapplied effects to photo subjects instead of the background. For the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, a specific bug related to the navigation button placement after screen folding or unfolding has also been rectified.
