Samsung confirms July 22 Unpacked event for new foldable phones

Samsung has officially confirmed its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on July 22, with the company set to unveil its latest generation of foldable smartphones. This year's event will be held in London, marking a shift from previous locations. The invitation itself, with a deliberately torn design, hints at a rumored "wide-screen foldable" model.

Industry speculation suggests Samsung may launch as many as three foldable devices this year. These are expected to include the high-end Z Fold8 Ultra, a new Z Fold8 with a wider aspect ratio that unfolds into a mini-tablet, and the compact Z Flip8. This expanded lineup aims to compete with Apple's anticipated foldable iPhone release in September.

Improvements to the Z Fold8 series are anticipated, with redesigned hinges and folding structures potentially minimizing screen creases to near invisibility. Enhanced hinge resistance is also expected. However, consumers might face higher prices for the new models. Alongside the foldables, Samsung is also expected to introduce new wearables like the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
