Ángel Correa Joins River Plate as Sixth Reinforcement

River Plate has finalized the signing of forward Ángel Correa, marking their sixth reinforcement under coach Eduardo Coudet. The Argentine club reached an agreement with Mexico's Tigres to acquire the player's full rights, ending a long pursuit of the 31-year-old attacker.

Correa will join River on a contract running until December 2029. The transfer fee is reported to be $15 million. He becomes the third central forward on the team, alongside Lucas Beltrán and Rafael Santos Borré. The negotiations for Correa began approximately two months ago, with River's side of the contract already prepared for some time. Correa had not participated in friendly matches or the current tournament with Tigres, facilitating the move.

This transfer marks Correa's fourth club. He began his professional career at San Lorenzo in 2013, scoring 12 goals in 64 appearances. In 2014, Atlético Madrid signed him, but a heart condition required surgery, delaying his debut until November of that year. He went on to play 10 seasons in Spain, netting 88 goals in 469 matches and winning three titles. In July 2025, he moved to Tigres for €10 million, where he scored 23 goals in 54 games. Correa was also part of the Argentine squad that won the 2021 Copa América and the 2022 Finalissima.
