Ángel Guillermo Hoyos Takes Over Inter Miami as Interim Coach

In a surprising turn of events, Inter Miami has announced a significant change in its coaching staff, with Javier Mascherano stepping down as head coach. The decision comes as a shock, particularly after Mascherano successfully guided the team to the MLS Cup title and a Concacaf Champions Cup semifinal in the previous season.

The club has moved swiftly to fill the void, appointing Ángel Guillermo Hoyos as the interim head coach. Hoyos, who was serving as the club's sporting director, will now transition back to the sidelines. This marks his return to a head coaching role after a short tenure with Oriente Petrolero in Bolivia in 2023, where his record was less than stellar.

Hoyos's previous coaching experience includes stints with various clubs in Argentina and Mexico, including Talleres de Córdoba, Aldosivi, and Atlas. Across 57 matches managed at these clubs, he recorded 15 wins, 12 draws, and 28 losses. Inter Miami will be hoping he can reverse this trend and steer the team effectively during this transitional period.
