Animal farm ablaze in Suceava County; dozens of pigs feared dead

A fierce fire ravaged an animal farm in Milișăuți, Suceava County, on Tuesday evening, prompting a large-scale response from emergency services. Eleven fire units, comprising both military firefighters and volunteers, were dispatched to the scene to contain and extinguish the blaze.

The fire significantly impacted the farm's structures, with approximately 3,000 square meters of the main building affected. An open-air fodder storage area of about 1,000 square meters was also destroyed. The facility housed around 300 pigs, including pregnant sows and young piglets.

Emergency teams managed to evacuate and save a portion of the animals. However, the exact number of livestock that perished in the fire will be determined by the owner after a full assessment. The fire has since been extinguished, and response teams are working to manage the aftermath and secure the area.

The probable cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Officials from the Suceava Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) are leading the inquiry.
