Animated spectacle with Hollywood star voices finally before Zagreb audience

Zagreb audiences will soon experience "Crystal Planet," an ambitious animated feature film from director Arsen Anton Ostojić. The movie, which boasts a script by the legendary Dušan Vukotić, the first non-American to win an Oscar for animation, is set to have its Zagreb premiere on Thursday, August 27, at the Kaptol Boutique Cinema.

"Crystal Planet" has already garnered international recognition, including a Special Golden Arena for its contribution to Croatian animation at the 73rd Pula Film Festival. Its festival journey began with a world premiere at the Zlín Film Festival in the Czech Republic, where it was well-received. The film has since seen premieres in Bratislava and Prague, and is currently being distributed in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

The production combines high-quality 3D animation with an emotional narrative. The English version features voice performances from Oscar winners Jeremy Irons and Vanessa Redgrave, alongside Michael York. Irons lends his voice to Mordokan, the planet's governor, whom he describes as a "greedy industrialist, but also a caring father whose inner sadness endangers the entire planet and all beings living on it."

The story centers on eleven-year-old Rea, who moves with her father to the newly discovered Crystal Planet. There, she discovers a hidden underground world and a young creature named Burgi, separated from its mother. Alongside her friend Edi, Rea embarks on an adventure to protect Burgi and reunite it with its family, confronting the greedy factory owner and Governor Mordokan, whose actions threaten the planet's ecosystem.
