Ankara launches simultaneous operation in drug and prostitution investigation targeting 21 suspects

Ankara prosecutors launched a simultaneous operation early in the morning against 21 suspects as part of an investigation into drugs and prostitution.

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office said it had obtained evidence indicating that the suspects may have committed offenses including drug trafficking, facilitating the use of narcotic or stimulant substances, drug use and prostitution.

As a result of the work carried out by the Ankara Police Department’s Narcotics Crimes Branch under the coordination of our Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, decisions were made to detain 21 suspects and conduct searches and seizures at their residences.

The investigation was coordinated by the office’s Smuggling, Narcotics and Economic Crimes Investigation Bureau, with Ankara police’s Narcotics Crimes Branch carrying out the operation. Authorities also ordered searches and seizures at the suspects’ residences.

Fourteen suspects were detained during the operation. Investigative and operational efforts to locate the other seven suspects were continuing, according to the prosecutor’s office.
