Anne Hathaway to star opposite Tom Cruise in “Days of Thunder 2”

Anne Hathaway and Tom Cruise are set to share the screen in “Days of Thunder 2,” a sequel to the 1990 racing film. Hathaway announced the project in a short clip, saying, “I will bring this baby into the world, and then we will make this movie.”

The video showed the actors standing in front of a race car displaying a summer 2028 release window. Reports say Cruise will return as the impulsive racer Cole Trickle, while Hathaway will play the owner of a racing team and an engineer.

Jonathan Levine, who directed “Long Shot,” is expected to direct. The film is reportedly scheduled to reach cinemas on June 2, 2028. Further details were not disclosed in the announcement clip.

Hathaway, 43, recently appeared in “The Devil Wears Prada 2” and Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.” She shared a photo of her baby bump on Instagram in June. The original film was directed by Tony Scott and also starred Robert Duvall and Nicole Kidman.
