Annual maintenance on Cablebús Line 2 in Iztapalapa progresses; RTP provides free support service

The Line 2 of the Cablebús system in Mexico City, which connects Constitución de 1917 with Santa Marta in Iztapalapa, is currently undergoing its annual maintenance program. To ensure continued mobility for thousands of residents, the Government of Mexico City has implemented a support operation utilizing units from the Red de Transporte de Pasajeros (RTP).

The maintenance work began on July 27 and is scheduled to conclude on August 9. During this period, the service is partially suspended in sections to allow for interventions on electromechanical and safety equipment. From July 27 to August 2, the loop between Santa Marta and Xalpa was closed. Subsequently, from August 3 to August 9, the suspension affects the Constitución de 1917-Xalpa section.

To alleviate the impact on daily commutes, RTP is offering a free shuttle service for passengers traveling between the affected stations. Martín López, the head of RTP, conducted a supervisory tour of Line 2 to guide passengers on the operation of this emergency service and inform them about alternative transportation options while the maintenance work is ongoing.

This week, specialized personnel are conducting the annual review of Loop A, which covers the Constitución de 1917-Santa Marta segment. Key interventions include the replacement of bearings and maintenance of the return pulley at the Constitución de 1917 station, as well as major maintenance on the hydraulic systems of the brake system at the Quetzalcóatl station.
