Another alleged attack reported in Tarija border city

Authorities in Bermejo, a border city in Bolivia's Tarija region, are investigating a vehicle fire that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The vehicle, belonging to a Notary Public, sustained significant damage to its front right side after two individuals allegedly set it ablaze using a chemical agent.

Commander of the Border Police, Alexander Tejerina, confirmed that the Special Force to Combat Crime (Felcc) is collecting evidence and indicators to clarify the circumstances of the incident. The attack is suspected to be intentional, given its characteristics, which bear resemblance to a previous incident in May where a prosecutor's vehicle was targeted.

Investigators are also seeking to obtain security camera footage from nearby homes to aid in identifying the suspects and understanding the motive behind the attack. The vehicle was parked in the main plaza of Bermejo, a city bordering Argentina, at the time of the incident.

This incident echoes a similar, serious attack in mid-May on a prosecutor's vehicle, which involved an explosive device. However, no results from the subsequent fiscal and police investigation into that case have been released.

The incident reportedly occurred at 1:35 in the morning this Tuesday. It is presumed that two individuals approached the vehicle and proceeded to set it on fire with a type of chemical agent.
