Another Hiker Bitten by a Snake, This Time Below Aljaž Lodge

A hiker bitten by a snake on a mountain trail was flown to Ljubljana after rescuers treated him near Aljaž Lodge.

The incident happened shortly before noon on a sunny, warm Saturday. A mountain rescue team from Brnik and rescuers from the Mojstrana Mountain Rescue Service responded to the trail between Bivouac Four and Aljaž Lodge.

The Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief said rescuers cared for the hiker and prepared him for transport. A helicopter from the police aviation unit then took him to the University Medical Centre Ljubljana.

Tolmin mountain rescuers also spent the afternoon searching for two hikers who had lost their way on the slopes of Matajur Peak. They found the pair in difficult-to-access terrain and, with help from the Brnik rescue team and the police helicopter, brought them down to the valley.
