Another Velička Masterclass in Australia

Arnas Velička produced another standout performance in Australia, but Brisbane Bullets lost 105-113 to South East Melbourne Phoenix in a preseason game.

The 26-year-old Kaunas native again started in the first five and played 33 minutes. He scored 24 points, shooting 2 of 4 on two-pointers, 5 of 10 from three-point range and 5 of 9 from the free-throw line. He also collected seven rebounds, made four steals, delivered seven assists and drew seven fouls.

Velička finished with 29 efficiency points, making him the game’s leading scorer and most effective player. Brisbane’s other leading contributors were Max Mackinnon with 17 points, Nate Hinton with 14 and Tyrell Harrison with 13.

South East Melbourne’s top scorer was D’Shawn Schwartz with 17 points. Angus Glover added 16, while former Šarūnas Jasikevičius player Skylar Mays scored 14.

Velička had also impressed in the previous game on Thursday. Starting again, he scored 10 points in 29 minutes, added 13 assists, made five steals and grabbed two rebounds. He also committed five turnovers and finished with 17 efficiency points.
