Ansah rescues Union Berlin draw in friendly against Cagliari

Ilyas Ansah salvaged a late draw for 1. FC Union Berlin, preventing another setback in their preseason preparations. The striker scored in the 85th minute and again in stoppage time to secure a 2-2 tie against Italian Serie A side Cagliari Calcio. This result extends Union Berlin's winless streak to six consecutive friendly matches. Cagliari had taken the lead through Yael Trepy in the 49th minute and Paul Mendy in the 67th minute. The match, attended by 8,825 spectators, saw Union Berlin field players who had not started in their previous match against Dynamo Dresden. The team is set to travel to Aigen im Ennstal, Austria, for a week-long training camp. Their next friendly is against Aris Limassol on August 9th, followed by a home match against Ipswich Town on August 15th, serving as their final preparation before their DFB-Pokal match against Eintracht Braunschweig on August 23rd. Union Berlin has so far signed two new players, defenders Zeno van den Bosch and Marvin Friedrich, but expects more acquisitions in the coming weeks, according to coach Lustrinelli.
