Anselmi: 'We want to be an aggressive team, thinking about the rival goal and being brave'

Martín Anselmi, the new coach of Elche, has outlined his vision for the team, stating his desire for them to be "aggressive, thinking about the opponent's goal and being brave" in the upcoming season. Anselmi, an Argentine, made his debut on the Elche bench last Saturday, leading the team to a 2-1 victory in their first preseason match against South Africa's Kaizer Chiefs.

Anselmi stressed that the team's primary tactical objective is "to be together." He explained this philosophy by saying, "It's our spirit as a team. Our way of seeing football is to do it together. If the first one goes out, I follow him. If one gets stuck, we don't go out. If we press, we all do it, and if we attack, we travel together."

He further elaborated on the need for constant connection, stating, "It's about everyone being connected to do everything together. When that happens, we feel identified with what we see." Anselmi intends to create a "dynamic team with a structure to attack," but one that can also break from that rigidity to compensate in other ways.

"We have players who give us width and break lines. It's about identifying space to create advantages and accelerate," the coach analyzed. His team is scheduled to play its second preseason friendly this Friday against Johor from Malaysia. Anselmi also expressed satisfaction with the progress made in the early weeks, particularly in strategic plays, which were key to one of the goals scored last Saturday. "We won't achieve it in every game, but we will work on it," he concluded.
