Anti-Corruption Commission Audits Assets at Ex-General's Dhaka Home

An Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) team conducted an inventory of assets at a Dhaka residence belonging to former Major General Ziaul Ahsan, who has been relieved of his duties. The operation, taking place in the Jalshiri residential area, is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged illicit wealth.

Officials stated that the inventory process involves meticulously documenting all movable and immovable assets found within the property. This detailed cataloging is intended to gather relevant information that may be used as evidence in the ongoing inquiry. The ACC Deputy Director Md Hafizul Islam is leading the operation.

This action comes shortly after a similar inventory was carried out at two apartments in Gulshan owned by former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury. During that court-ordered operation, ACC officials cataloged a significant number of items, including approximately 300 coats, 532 ties, eight watch boxes (four of which were Rolex), three sets of pearl jewelry, four chandeliers, a bed, a sofa, and 100 sets of kameez. That inventory was also prepared as part of an investigation into alleged illicit wealth.

The commission's public relations department confirmed that detailed inventories are being prepared for assets found on the premises, which will be incorporated into the respective investigations. The ACC's efforts highlight a continued focus on investigating corruption and documenting assets of individuals under scrutiny.
