Antonelli to Start First, Ahead of Ferraris, at Silverstone

Italian driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes secured pole position for the British Grand Prix, the ninth event of the Formula One World Championship, at Silverstone. This marks Antonelli's fifth pole position of the current season.

Antonelli, 19, dominated the windy qualifying session, completing the 5.891-kilometer Silverstone circuit in 1 minute, 28.111 seconds. He finished 0.175 seconds ahead of Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, who will start second. Lewis Hamilton, also driving for Ferrari, will start third, 0.347 seconds behind Antonelli's time.

George Russell, Antonelli's teammate and second in the championship standings, will start from the second row in fourth place, alongside Hamilton. The third row will feature Red Bull's Isack Hadjar and McLaren's Lando Norris, the winner of last year's British Grand Prix.

In the midfield, Spanish drivers Carlos Sainz (Williams) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) will start fifteenth and twenty-second, respectively. Other notable grid positions include Max Verstappen (Red Bull) starting seventh and Oscar Piastri (McLaren) eighth.
