Antonio Banderas, the 65-year-old Spanish actor, has described his heart attack nearly a decade ago as the "best thing that ever happened to me in my life." The incident, which occurred in January 2017 while he was exercising, gave him a profound new perspective on life's priorities.

"You always have in mind that you are going to die," Banderas told People magazine. "But when it is so close, it makes you incredibly clear how stupid it is to waste time on things that do not deserve to be part of your life." He explained that after the heart attack, it felt as if "someone had put glasses on me so I could see the reality that I had not seen before."
