APC and Atiku Clash Over Nigeria’s Economic Policies

The All Progressives Congress has answered Atiku Abubakar’s continuing attacks on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, especially its economic policies, with a sharp political rebuttal.

APC described Atiku, the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, as a rejected politician making statements detached from reality in an effort to win public support. The party said Tinubu’s administration had brought relief from the hardship created by the Peoples Democratic Party, which Atiku once led.

Atiku is reviewing his policies, not just on subsidy, but also on education, energy in general, state police and other issues. He is taking a look at the economy, insecurity and other aspects where this APC-led Federal Government has failed. This is to ensure that he is properly prepared.

Atiku has vowed to mobilize Nigerians against what he calls the failed policies of the current government. Speaking through his media aide, Paul Ibe, he said his policy blueprint was under review. It would address subsidies, education, energy, state police, the economy, poverty and insecurity.

As I have said, this election is a referendum on the failed policies and failures of the Tinubu government to protect and secure the lives and property of Nigerians and take care of their welfare. These are the primary responsibilities of government.

He described the election as a referendum on the Tinubu government’s failures to protect Nigerians, secure lives and property, and provide for their welfare. APC publicity director Bala Ibrahim defended the government’s reforms and said they were more advanced than Atiku’s proposals. He argued that Nigerians would not abandon policies already implemented and beginning to produce results for promises that had not been tested.

Atiku can propose very mouth-watering offers to Nigerians, but Nigerians should know better. They know that that which has been done, that which has been sown and fertilised, and is already beginning to yield good fruit, cannot be jettisoned for that which has not been tested.
