APC diaspora chieftain lauds Adeleke’s N500m fund for election victims

Ayoola Lawal, a former Secretary and APC Committee of Diaspora Chairmen, has lauded Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke's initiative to establish a ₦500 million fund dedicated to supporting victims and families impacted by election violence. Lawal described the fund as a compassionate and welcome response to concerns previously voiced by stakeholders, including his own appeals for meaningful assistance to those who suffered losses during the electoral process. "Some of us had called for support for these families, and I am genuinely pleased that the governor listened and has now responded with this significant intervention," Lawal stated. He views the gesture as evidence of the governor's genuine concern for victims' welfare, emphasizing that political considerations should not overshadow the human cost of electoral violence. Lawal praised Adeleke for translating legitimate concerns into concrete action, regardless of political affiliation. He also referenced a recent television commentary that, while light-hearted, highlighted the importance of leadership compassion and empathy in addressing citizens' pain. Lawal stressed the need for the fund to be administered transparently, fairly, and promptly, ensuring that genuine victims and their families are the primary recipients. He believes that providing substantial support to victims of political violence can foster healing, reconciliation, and restore public confidence in Nigeria's democratic process.
