APC in Bauchi Nominates Mustapha as Gubernatorial Running Mate for 2027

Hon Faruk Mustapha, the former Commissioner for Special Duties and Rural Development in Bauchi State, has officially accepted his nomination as the running mate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, for the 2027 general election.

Mustapha described the nomination as a "call to service" and stated he could not refuse such a responsibility. He expressed confidence that the people's trust in their capabilities would not be misplaced. "The people know our capabilities and decided to trust us with the responsibility of leadership. We will not fail them," Mustapha told journalists.

He lauded Abubakar, the APC's gubernatorial candidate, as the most suitable leader for Bauchi State. Mustapha emphasized Abubakar's extensive political and administrative experience, noting his prior four-year tenure as governor. "It is only fair to allow him come back to complete the good things he started as governor. He knows exactly what to do because he is not a new comer to the job," Mustapha added.

Mustapha, who previously served as the Director-General of the Campaign Organisation for Bauchi State Governor Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed in the 2023 elections, conveyed optimism about the APC's prospects in the 2027 elections. He believes the party will achieve victory at all levels, citing the progress made since 2023.

The State Organizing Secretary of the APC, Sallau Kafi, confirmed that Abubakar and the party leadership had submitted Mustapha's name and particulars to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for uploading. This nomination follows Mustapha's resignation from the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in May after being denied that party's gubernatorial ticket.
