APC postpones presidential, governorship primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a revised schedule for its primary elections, signaling a strategic recalibration of its campaign machinery ahead of the 2027 general elections. This adjustment, which pushes the presidential primaries to May 23, 2026, and governorship primaries to May 21, 2026, reflects the party's commitment to aligning with the nation's electoral laws and the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) revised timetable.

Duro Meseko, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, disclosed these changes following the 186th National Working Committee meeting in Abuja. The revised timetable also includes adjustments to the screening of aspirants and the handling of appeals, ensuring a structured process for candidate selection. The party emphasizes that these modifications are in strict accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Electoral Act 2026, and INEC's updated schedule of activities.
