APM Sweeps Bauchi LG Poll, Wins All 20 Chairmanship, 319 Councillorship Seats

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has achieved a sweeping victory in the Bauchi State local government elections, securing all 20 chairmanship positions. The results, announced by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) on Monday night, indicate a near-total sweep for the APM.

BASIEC Chairperson Hon. Hajiya Jummai S. Abubakar declared that APM candidates emerged victorious in every chairmanship election across the 20 local government areas. The commission detailed the vote counts for several winning candidates, including Bappah Aliyu Mohammed in Alkaleri LGA with 107,482 votes and Umar Mohammed Aliyu in Bauchi LGA with 125,170 votes.

In addition to the chairmanship seats, the APM also dominated the councillorship elections, winning 319 out of the 323 ward seats available. The remaining four seats were distributed among four other political parties: the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the National Rescue Movement (NRM), the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), and the Young Progressive Party (YPP).

BASIEC confirmed that all successful candidates met the legal requirements and secured the highest valid votes in their respective constituencies. The commission commended Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir for his support, while emphasizing that the elections were conducted independently and in accordance with the law. The announcement marks a significant electoral outcome for the APM in Bauchi State.
