APM Terminals Apapa Leads Major Port Clean-up Drive

APM Terminals Apapa, Nigeria's largest container terminal, has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental responsibility by leading a significant clean-up operation across key areas of the Lagos Port Complex. This initiative was a central activity during the company's 2026 Go Green Week.

On Friday, employees of APM Terminals Apapa actively participated in cleaning major access roads within the port. This effort underscores the company's dedication to minimizing waste, fostering environmental stewardship, and contributing to a cleaner, more resilient ecosystem surrounding Nigeria's busiest port.

Go Green Week is APM Terminals' global campaign focused on environmental awareness and action. It aims to accelerate the company's goal of achieving net-zero operations by 2040 through impactful, community-driven environmental initiatives. The program includes activities like tree planting, environmental awareness sessions, and community clean-ups.

Kamal Alhraishat, Managing Director of APM Terminals Apapa, highlighted Go Green Week as a vital platform for emphasizing responsible operations and encouraging collective action within the port community. Felix Ugwuagbo, the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager, added that sustainability is integral to the company's daily operations and decision-making. He noted that a clean port is safer, healthier, and more efficient, directly supporting trade and the well-being of workers.

Umar Ibrahim, Assistant Manager for NPA Environment at the Lagos Port Complex, commended the initiative. He stressed the importance of effective waste management for safe and efficient port operations, noting that a clean environment protects public health, preserves the ecosystem, and ensures the smooth flow of goods and people.
