Apple Intelligence Upgrades 8 Key Features, Enhancing Photo Editing and Siri

Apple announced its new "Apple Intelligence" system at its 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference, integrating advanced AI capabilities across its product ecosystem. The update enhances daily applications like photo editing, Safari browsing, password management, messaging, calendar, and shortcuts.

The new photo editing tools include "Spatial Persona," "Generative Expand," and an improved "Erase" feature. "Spatial Persona" allows users to adjust photo composition and perspective after taking the picture. "Generative Expand" extends the image by automatically filling in new content. The enhanced "Erase" function can more naturally remove unwanted objects or people.

Password security is also upgraded, with the "Passwords" app now proactively helping users fix security risks by automatically upgrading accounts to strong passwords. Safari gains new smart browsing tools, including automatic tab categorization by theme and a "Notify Me" feature to track stock availability or price changes. Users can also create custom Safari extensions using text descriptions.

Messaging, email, and calendar management become more intelligent. Apple Intelligence can suggest actions based on message content, such as creating reminders or searching for photos. Smart replies can generate content in the user's writing style. The calendar app allows event creation via natural language, and the "Phone" app can display booking numbers and confirmation codes.

New "Siri AI" features, powered by Apple Intelligence, offer more natural conversation, personal context understanding, screen awareness, real-time web search, and cross-app operation. Siri also gains a dedicated app and integrates visual intelligence and AI writing tools, moving closer to a true AI assistant. Some features, like image generation, will have daily usage limits, with higher limits available for iCloud+ subscribers.
