Apple's Budget MacBook Neo in Development for 2027 Launch with Upgraded Chip

Apple's entry-level MacBook Neo has made a strong debut, shipping over 1.1 million units globally in its first quarter and outperforming all other Mac models. This success has spurred the development of a new generation, according to foreign media reports.

The upcoming MacBook Neo is expected to receive a significant performance boost with the upgrade to an A19 Pro chip and an increase in memory to 12GB, up from the current model's A18 Pro chip and 8GB. These enhancements aim to provide users with smoother multitasking capabilities and improved experiences for future AI applications. Apple also plans to introduce new color options to its existing palette of silver, pink, yellow, and blue.

Industry watchers anticipate the new MacBook Neo could arrive as early as the first half of 2027. Apple is expected to maintain its accessible pricing strategy to further solidify its position in the competitive budget laptop market. However, a recent price hike for the MacBook Neo in Taiwan, from NT$19,900 to NT$22,900, due to rising memory costs, raises questions about its potential impact on sales volume.
