Applications Open for Latvia’s “Studētgods” Social Scholarship

Applications are open for Latvia’s “Studētgods” social scholarship, which pays 180 euros a month during the first semester of the 2026-2027 academic year. Students must apply electronically through the Latvija.lv portal.

The scholarship is available to students up to age 25 studying in college, bachelor’s or selected long-cycle second-level programmes, including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine. Applicants must meet at least one social criterion. Eligible groups include students from large families, students who have at least three children themselves, orphans and young people without parental care, people with Group I or II disabilities, and students from poor or low-income households.

Academic requirements also apply. On entering higher education, applicants need at least 30% in mathematics at the optimal level and at least 40% in Latvian on centralized examinations. During their studies, they must maintain a weighted average of at least six, pass their courses and have no academic debts.

Income is assessed as well. For autumn applications, the student’s total income during the relevant year must not exceed 11,840 euros gross. For applications assessed on Feb. 20, the limit is 17,760 euros gross in the previous tax year. Students must apply again every semester. Applications for the first semester run from Sept. 1 to 20, and those for the second semester from Feb. 1 to 20. Applications submitted outside the deadline or anywhere other than Latvija.lv will not be accepted.
