Appointed Environment Minister Andriulaitytė: Environmental Protection Will Receive Due Attention

Inga Andriulaitytė, poised to become Lithuania's new Environment Minister, has pledged that environmental and nature protection will receive due attention and importance. Speaking at the Seimas during the presentation of the 21st Government program, Andriulaitytė described the environmental sector as highly significant and strategic.

"The environmental sector is very important and, in my opinion, one of the strategic sectors," Andriulaitytė stated. "Indeed, there are quite a few challenges ahead when starting work to reconcile these interests. I am for cooperation and I definitely plan to meet and talk with all sector participants."

Andriulaitytė acknowledged that various interests intersect within the sector but assured that environmental and nature conservation issues would remain a top priority. "As an environmentalist, I want to assure you that environmental and nature conservation issues will be given due attention and appropriate importance," she added.

Kastytis Žuromskas, previously delegated by the "Nemuno aušros" faction, is currently the acting head of the Ministry of Environment. Prime Minister-designate Mindaugas Sinkevičius recently presented his ministerial candidates, emphasizing the new government's focus on strengthening national defense amid the ongoing war in Europe. President Gitanas Nausėda formally approved the composition of the 21st Government earlier this week, following the resignation of the previous I. Ruginienė government due to a reshuffled ruling coalition.
