Arab, Islamic Nations Condemn Ongoing Israeli Violations in Gaza

A joint statement from the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, and Türkiye has issued a strong condemnation of Israel's continuing violations in the Gaza Strip. The ministers denounced the targeting of healthcare facilities and medical infrastructure, as well as attacks on civilian infrastructure, which have resulted in the deaths of civilians, including women and children.

The statement asserted that these actions represent a clear breach of Israel's international legal obligations and undermine efforts to end the Gaza conflict. It noted that these violations threaten to derail the political process, potentially reignite escalation cycles, and worsen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The ministers emphasized that protecting civilians, safeguarding medical personnel, and ensuring unimpeded humanitarian aid are non-negotiable legal obligations.

Furthermore, the ministers linked the Gaza situation to actions in the occupied West Bank, including settler attacks, settlement expansion, and unilateral measures in Jerusalem. They described these practices as a systematic policy to impose a fait accompli by force, undermining the two-state solution and Palestinian rights in violation of international law and UN resolutions.

The ministers called upon the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities. They urged for practical measures to compel Israel to comply with international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 2803, and to hold those responsible for violations accountable. This, they stated, is crucial for protecting civilians, preserving peace prospects, and achieving a permanent ceasefire.
