Arab, Islamic Organizations Condemn Houthi Accusations Against Saudi Arabia

Qatar has strongly condemned recent Houthi accusations that Saudi Arabia is imposing a siege on the Yemeni people and obstructing marine navigation. The Qatari Foreign Ministry declared its "full solidarity with the Kingdom and support of the measures it takes to ensure its security and sovereignty." Qatar urged the international community to enforce UN Security Council resolutions, specifically Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 concerning freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.

The ministry emphasized that freedom of navigation through international waterways is a fundamental principle of international law. It also stated that Saudi Arabia's security is intrinsically linked to the security of Qatar and other Gulf Cooperation Council member states.

Similarly, the Muslim World League (MWL) strongly condemned the Houthi claims, labeling them as "false claims" designed to deflect blame for the worsening situation in Yemen. MWL Secretary-General Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa described the statements as a "desperate attempt to cover up their crimes and violations against the Yemeni people."

The Yemeni people are aware that the claims are nothing but an attempt to avoid accountability from the disastrous humanitarian situation the Houthis have created in regions under their control due to their violations, mismanagement” and theft of Yemen’s resources.

Al-Issa pointed to the Houthis' targeting of infrastructure, civilian airports, oil ports, and government facilities, as well as attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea. He asserted that the Yemeni people recognize these claims as an effort to evade accountability for the "disastrous humanitarian situation" created by the Houthis' mismanagement, resource theft, and violations in areas under their control.

The MWL highlighted that the reality on the ground contradicts the Houthi narrative. They cited the Saudi Foreign Ministry's announcement that Saudi Arabia will continue to collaborate with Yemen's legitimate government, implement development projects, support the government budget, provide oil derivatives for power stations, and back UN peace efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
